This month we will be writing letters of support and birthday cards for Alisha Walker, a 25-year-old sex worker convicted of second degree murder for defending herself against a violent client. She is incarcerated in Illinois serving a 15-year sentence. Support Ho(s)e Chicago, an organizing coalition of sex workers, is providing emotional and material support while her legal team is appealing her conviction.
Join local Project Lia and Bellfound farm for upwrite, a letter writing project to build community with and support incarcerated women, trans, and nonbinary people. At each event, the group will share information about a person who is currently incarcerated, provide materials to write them a letter of support, and distribute information on other ways to assist them. All ages welcome.
